HP is targeting the education sector with a type of laptop geared toward “blended learning.”
The vendor designed its Fortis laptops to accomodate students lugging them back and forth from school to home. In blended learning, the laptop functionally replaces the textbook as the main content portal. As a result, HP designed the laptops to be more durable and also connect to 4G.
HP also refreshed its commercial PC, workstation and monitor portfolios.

Fuze updated its contact center and Microsoft Teams offerings.
The UCaaS provider’s ltest updates enhance the experience for hybrid workers. For example, the Teams integration offers a hybrid mode that accomodates direct routing and click-to-connect users.
8×8 is set to acquire Fuze.

Cloud distributor Pax8 added a solution from Axcient to its line card.
Pax8 partners can now sell the x360Recover Direct-to-Cloud business continuity solution. The solution provides unlimited storage and retention and automatic backup verification.

Microsoft expanded Teams for front-line workers.
Microsoft updated its Viva Connection app to include new integrations with different devices. That includes Zebra, Workday and Edcast.
Microsoft launched Viva Connections as a way to give essential workers a way to communicate through line-of-business applications. One of its original features was a walkie-talkie capability.

The Chicago-based technology services distributor expanded its supplier portfolio.
TBI signed an agreement with Norwegian contact center provider Puzzel. Puzzel is a five-year-old company that spun out of Intelecom.
TBI’s director of sales said his company is looking to add “European-centric” suppliers to its portfolio.

SD-WAN provider Bigleaf Networks unveiled a DDoS mitigation service.
The automated service slots into Bigleaf’s existing Cloud Access Network overlay. The circuit-agnostic nature of the service lets customers protect all of their various ISP connections.

UCaaS vendor Wildix added integrations to its sales communication-as-a-service product.
The x-bees offering now includes integrations with Salesforce and Gong.io. One executive described x-bees as a “smart browser-based UCaaS platform so that you can manage leads, improve customer service and increase your sales.”
It exists in addition to the flagship Wildix UC platform.

Juniper Networks and Cradlepoint announced a technology alliance.
The team-up will bring together Juniper’s wired, Wi-Fi and SD-WAN solutions with Cradlepoint’s 5G offerings. For example, customers can leverage network data from both Mist AI and Cradlepoint NetCloud.

AT&T and Verizon both flipped the switch on the new portions of their 5G networks, but with a caveat.
The carriers launched 5G services that utilize “C-band” spectrum. This type of midband spectrum will improve their network coverage and open up more business use cases.
However, the Federal Aviation Administration, along with major airline executives and other federal authorities, called upon AT&T and Verizon to delay the launch of their networks in locations close to airports, due to interference C-band spectrum was causing with airplane instruments. As a result, Verizon and AT&T ended up delaying their rollouts in several locations.

Barracuda Networks gave its email protection offering extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities.
The upgrade builds on Barracuda’s acquisition of Skout Security, which offers an XDR platform. Barracuda has integrated Barracuda Email Protection and Skout Managed XDR together.
The update helps MSPs protect an expanded threat surface, according to the senior vice president of Barracuda MSP.

Check Point updated its secure acces service edge (SASE) offering.
The Harmony Connect solution features zero-trust network access and cloud-based VPN as a service. It also requires device posture validation for remote users.

Dell updated its Apex as-a-service portfolio to accomodate multicloud environments.
Dell launched Apex Multi-Cloud Data Services, which includes a backup offering and public cloud-focused block and file storage software.
Dell will also launch a developer portal and DevOps-ready platforms.

The updated LiveVox Knowledge Center helps contact center agents answer questions more easily.
Knowledge Center provides intelligent search capabilities and collaboration tools to help agents make on-the-fly customer service decisions. Users can also leverage Knowledge Center to build content and social media resources.

SuperOps.ai is looking to streamline RMM and PSA tools into one.
The intelligent automation platform provider announced a $14 million series A funding round. The company plans to use AI to give MSPs intelligent alerting. Users of the platform will manage clients, financial data and employees.

Dell Technologies, Bigleaf Networks and other partner-focused vendors unveiled new solutions recently.
A steady number of product announcements came to the IT and telecommunications industries in January 2022. Dell unveiled multiple new hardware solutions, as did its rival HP. SD-WAN provider Bigleaf unveiled a new offering designed to protect customers from DDoS attacks.
UCaaS was also a big area for product announcements last month. Fuze and Wildix both announced update to their platforms.
Of course, we also saw the much heralded rollouts of AT&T and Verizon’s “c-band” 5G spectrum. However, the network expansion came with a few caveats.
