Viasat
The ViaSat-2 communications satellite successfully arrived in geostationary orbit and will allow delivery of advanced residential, enterprise, government and in-flight internet services starting in February. Viasat’s president of global business solutions told Channel Partners that ViaSat-2 was designed to offer high-capacity connectivity and wide coverage, with the flexibility to move capacity to where demand requires it.

TeleDomani
TeleDomani agents can now offer net2phone’s hosted PBX and SIP trunking to their enterprise customers. The two companies announced a partnership in the second week of December.
net2phone’s hosted PBX offering includes unlimited domestic and international calling to all destinations in more than 20 countries, free Polycom phones, and feature sets including real-time quality of service visibility and optimization.

AireSpring
AireSpring says it's giving customers the option to avoid buying or maintaining on-premises equipment.
The cloud communications and managed connectivity provider unveiled its new Cloud Hosted Key System, aimed at serving the needs of small businesses or branch offices that prefer the familiarity of a traditional key system to a PBX. The new system combines the functionality found in traditional key systems with cloud communications.

Tech Data
Tech Data launched Tech as a Service (TaaS), which joins the lineup of industry as-a-service offerings that partners can offer their customers. This latest service allows partners to bundle hardware, software and services into a single monthly subscription.
It’s a rebranding of a legacy Avnet Technology Solution program called CapacityNow, which now falls under the TaaS umbrella. CapacityNow is an enterprise offering for data-center services such as metered compute and storage.

Ingram Micro
Ingram Micro added IBM’s MaaS360 with Watson, which provides cloud unified endpoint management (UEM), to its Cloud Marketplace.
MaaS360 is incorporating Watson for actionable intelligence and cognitive analytics. IBM MaaS360 with Watson allows IT to manage smartphones, tablets, laptops and IoT devices from a single management console. This latest offering expands the relationship between Ingram Micro and IBM.

Sungard AS
Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) launched a mobile app designed to help businesses recovery from incidents. The Act with Assurance app uses the SunGard AssuranceCM business-continuity software and collaborates with the Assurance software platform. Members of recovery teams receive specialized "playbooks" that tell them how to act during a test exercise or actual disaster

Synnex
Distributor Synnex Corp. added new secure network offerings by partnering with Aerohive Networks and Symantec, and expanded its agreement with F5 Networks.
Three new offerings stemmed from the announcement: Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud (SEP Cloud), the enhanced distribution agreement with F5, and a wireless-as-a-service (WaaS) offering from Aerohive. The distributor said the partnerships came in response to evolving end-user demands and security’s central role in effective cloud and managed services platforms.

Atmosera announced a new Azure Website Migration Program available to channel partners.
The program focuses on organizations migrating website infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. The free assessment evaluates website workloads and performance data to help optimize cloud architecture. It also helps prioritize requirements to optimize performance, realize continuous operations and leverage automated testing for e-commerce and high-traffic websites, the company said.

From a new communications satellite reaching its destination in orbit to a new cloud-based phone system and a hardware/software/services bundle, December didn’t lack for a variety of new products and services that might have slipped past you during the busy holiday season.
Particularly active were distributors such as Tech Data, Ingram Micro and Synnex, but so were master agent TeleDomani, and cloud and connectivity provider AireSpring, just to name a few.
