Data protection provider Veeam Software has rolled out a new certification program aimed at channel partner pre-sales engineers and system engineers at the vendor’s customers.
Veeam, which specializes in backup, replication and virtualization management solutions for VMware (VMW) vSphere and Microsoft (MSFT) Hyper-V, said it will launch the new technical training and certification programs for both its reseller ProPartners and end users in North America and EMEA beginning in January.
The program aims to educate and certify partners and end user engineers as Veeam Certified Engineers (VMCE), with the designation validating the expertise required to implement and configure Veeam software correctly and most effectively. The badge also verifies the engineer has the necessary knowledge and experience to be hired as a Veeam Expert, the company said.
The company said it expects up to 2,000 engineers will achieve the VMCE designation in the next year.
“Our new training and certification programs will create a more empowered and enabled channel and end user ecosystem,” said Ratmir Timashev, Veeam chief executive.
“We expect our ProPartners to see growth in revenue as these certified Veeam experts become more engaged, motivated and knowledgeable,” he said. “This training will support our partners’ ability to offer additional services to their customers and establish an extra revenue stream, while also offering a higher level of support to their customers.”
Veeam said some of its distributors—it didn’t say which ones—will double as Veeam Authorized Education Centers (VMAEC), supplying three-day training courses based on a curriculum developed by the vendor. Video on Demand Learning is available for candidates in North America unable to attend the instructor-led, live, on-site training.
Education will focus on Veeam product capabilities, effectively implementing Veeam technology fror maximum functionality, offering and delivering professional services and optimizing partners’ investment in Veeam solutions.
“As a channel-centric organization, our regional teams will work alongside our partner community to help them take advantage of the hot growth opportunities Modern Data Protection is creating in the enterprise market,” said Timashev.
