Palo Alto Networks and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are teaming up to launch a new next-generation firewall (NGFW).

Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW for AWS is a managed NGFW service. Organizations can accelerate their pace of innovation while remaining secure.

For now, the service is available only on AWS. It brings Palo Alto Networks security to organizations’ cloud deployments. It shifts the operational responsibility, including deployment, maintenance, availability and scale, to Palo Alto Networks.

Opportunity for Partners Later This Year

Karl Soderlund is Palo Alto Networks’ senior vice president of worldwide channel sales.

“At launch, Cloud NGFW will be available as a subscription in the AWS marketplace, with additional ways to purchase coming later this year,” he said. At that time, partners will be able to resell [the service].”

Here’s our most recent list of new products and services that agents, VARs, MSPs and other partners offer.

The service is the first and only NGFW to integrate with AWS Firewall Manager, Soderlund said.

“Our joint AWS customers can now protect their cloud workloads with powerful network security that is effective, simple and designed for AWS,” he said.

Palo Alto Networks works with AWS in a number of ways, Soderlund said. That includes having Palo Alto Networks VM-Series NGFW and Prisma Cloud available in the AWS Marketplace, and integrations with AWS services. Those include AWS Security Hub and Amazon GuardDuty.

“We look forward to working with AWS going forward, but can’t talk about unannounced products,” he said.

The new service provides advanced URL filtering, threat prevention and app ID.

Stephen Orban is vice president of AWS Marketplace and control services at AWS.

“We’ve heard from customers that security and simplicity are two of the top reasons they choose AWS,” he said. “Over the last year, we’ve worked closely with Palo Alto Networks to jointly develop a best-in-class cloud-native network security solution that helps customers speed their pace of innovation.”
