Commvault has promoted one of its executives to lead the company’s partnerships.
The cloud data-management provider named Owen Taraniuk, formerly vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan, to head of worldwide partnerships and market development. The appointment puts him in charge of Commvault’s indirect alliances, as well as its go-to-market strategy.
Ron Miller, Commvault’s senior vice president of worldwide sales, says the company is updating its strategy to reflect more of a channel focus. Commvault plans to “scale” its global partner program.

“Owen’s appointment signals a strategic shift toward being partner-led with a focus on increasing our investment in alliance and partner relationships whose role in growing and scaling Commvault’s global business is critical in our future plan,” Miiller said. “His impeccable track record of success in aligning internal and external teams and his go-to-market thought leadership naturally positions him to drive and elevate our worldwide partner and alliance program to new heights.”
Taraniuk has worked with Commvault since 2015. He previously led EMC’s Asia Pacific and Japan market, and also worked for Kofax, Open Text and Groupe Inova. He says he looks forward to helping Commvault, its partners and customers grow their data-protection footprint. Commvault launched two new data infrastructure offerings in October.
“I am grateful for the strong vote of confidence from Ron and Commvault’s executive team and look forward to driving new opportunities for growth and revenue with our current and potential partners, through ease of experience and winning solutions,” Taraniuk said. “As we continue to deliver customers the industry’s best data-protection offerings for on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, we are also deepening and expanding our partner relationships, accelerating Commvault’s growth and helping our partners expand their opportunities for revenue as well.”
Ralph Nimergood, who spoke with Channel Partners during his tenure as the company’s vice president of worldwide channels and alliances, will serve as Taraniuk’s chief of staff and “continue to be instrumental in implementing Commvault’s indirect strategy and strengthening the company’s partner-centric approach.”
