Rick Gouveia is the new vice president of sales at Datos IO, the application-centric cloud data management company. Datos IO has been shipping product since 2016 and recently upgraded its RecoverX software platform to version 2.5.

In this newly created position, Gouveia is responsible for defining sales strategies, leading all sales execution, and for growing the company’s partner relationships. He’ll report to Datos IO co-founder and CEO, Tarun Thakur. The company is on a mission to accelerate the adoption of RecoverX.

Datos IO’s Rick Gouveia

“2017 has been a banner year for Datos IO with multiple industry awards, significant customer acquisition across Fortune 500 enterprises, and critical partnerships with channel partners and cloud providers.  We welcome someone of Rick’s caliber, as we enter a phase of hyper-growth, rapidly acquiring new customers across numerous industries and expanding our channel and partner go-to-market activities,” said Thakur. “With Rick’s enviable experience at driving the adoption of enterprise backup, recovery and data-management solutions, he will play a critical role in helping rapidly scale our sales organization to meet the demands of companies looking to modernize their backup and recovery solutions with application-centric data management products.”

Prior to taking this new job with Datos IO, Gouveia held sales positions at Druva, for three years, and at the separate and combined Dell EMC companies for almost 18 years, with much of that experience aligned with Data Domain and the Data Protection and Availability division.

While Gouveia will be responsible for both direct and indirect channels, his goal is to make Datos IO a channel-led company.

“I have a particular slogan, ‘Strive to 100 percent channel,’ but I’ll live with 80 percent,” he told us. His plan to grow the channel is slow, smart and steady — looking for two to three times the growth in the number of partners in the upcoming year.

Today, the company has 25 channel partners, and in July, launched the Rebellion Partner Program. The program includes deal registration, discounts and marketing support — including targeted market development funds (MDF) and a dedicated partner portal. The portal acts as a one-stop shop for sales, marketing, product and technical resources, including collateral, pricing, case studies and solution overviews.

The company’s RecoverX cloud management platform targets enterprise customers, Gouveia said.

Datos IO also announced Wednesday that it is moving to new corporate headquarters, expanding its office space by 300 percent, to accommodate growth and staff expansion.
