With the rise of the cloud and increasingly paperless offices, more and more American workers are pitching in on IT tasks that are not part of their official job duties.

In August 2018, NinjaRMM conducted a survey of 500 office workers in the United States to learn more about how many people are performing IT tasks that aren’t part of their normal job description.  Of the 500 respondents, the survey found that an alarming 32% of office workers spend at least 8 hours a month on IT tasks that aren’t part of their normal job duties. These people are defined as “involuntary IT managers” or IITM.

For MSPs, the opportunity is significant. There are a large number of these IITMs across company sizes and salary ranges, and 66% are interested in hiring a third-party IT contractor to help take on the responsibilities.
