Channel partners and service providers alike will want to know more.

VMware partners – or all of the company’s 75,000 solution and service providers – now may sell the AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management SaaS platform.
In January, VMware paid $1.54 billion for AirWatch to get a foothold in mobile device management (MDM) as businesses face the task of securing employees’ smartphones and tablets.
Now, VMware has reached a “significant milestone in our operational integration plans,” said Dave O’Callaghan, VMware’s senior vice president, Global Partner Organization, in a blog post on Tuesday.
That milestone is the availability of the AirWatch platform to the indirect channel and VMware’s service provider partners. In other words, everyone from VARs, systems integrators and managed service providers to network operators now may offer their clients the ability to oversee spending on mobile devices and connectivity, as well as manage the associated applications and security settings.
“AirWatch will continue the great work they do and will still operate as a subsidiary of VMware,” O’Callaghan said. “AirWatch sales will remain a separate sales and channel organization, and will continue to sell directly and through channels. Additionally, the AirWatch team will continue to provide customer support.”
