Alert Logic is taking its Log Manager security-as-a-service (SaaS) offering to the Microsoft (MSFT) Windows Azure public cloud platform.
Log Manager provides end customers with consolidated data logs within a single pane of glass view and comes in two flavors on Azure:
Security Edition, which was designed as a web-based log management offering that retains data in the cloud for 90 days.
Security & Compliance Edition, which provides a daily log review service to help customers adhere to PCI-DSS log review compliance. It retains data in the cloud for one year.
Alert Logic already provides the Log Manager service on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including on the AWS GovCloud (U.S.) platform. With the announcement of the availability on Windows Azure, Alert Logic brings the log management tool to Microsoft cloud customers and aims to provide “a significant advancement in hybrid cloud security risk mitigation.”
“IT organizations that are migrating to Windows Azure or planning to run a hybrid IT environment will now be able to use the same security log consolidation and reporting solution across the enterprise, said Dave Colesante, Alert Logic CTO and senior vice president of Product Development, in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to expand our proven SaaS solution to Windows Azure with Log Manager, helping ease transitions to the hybrid cloud environment.”
For the vendor’s channel partners, this should increase the range of customers they can serve, but it may also open up the possibility for Alert Logic to attract potential partners that are focused on the Windows Azure space.
